Sinric leads Ragnar up to their rooms, laughing softly as the Viking drags his feet.

"Get out of your dirty clothes and I'll run you a bath." He draws Ragnar in, standing in his tiptoes to kiss the corner of Ragnar's lips.

"Shh." Sinric presses a finger to Ragnar's lips, following it with a kiss. "Let there only be love."

"There is," Ragnar says, "but love sometimes makes you unhappy when those you love must suffer."

"He's healing." Sinric whispers softly, "It's hard to see it, being close as we are, but he's healing."

"Yes," Ragnar says. "He might even not always notice it himself."

"One day he'll look at himself and realise he's healed, far better than he was at least. But until then, he'll see only the broken parts of himself. So all we can do is keep showing him how much we love him."

"Which I will keep doing."

"We both do." Sinric steals a sweet kiss, getting off Ragnar's lap to go clean himself up.

Ragnar stretches and leans back, tangling his fingers in his own messed-up hair.

He will need to do something about this.

Sinric comes back with a flannel and a comb. "Leave that." He smiles, "I'll do it now."

"Thank you," Ragnar says, sheepishly. "You had done it once already, and then I messed it up."

Sinric laughs and settles behind Ragnar, combing his mane into some semblance of order swiftly. "I did have rather a hand in making a mess of it." He kisses Ragnar's shoulder.

"More than just a hand," Ragnar says, grinning. "Some very nice other parts of your body were involved as well."

"Rather a lot of me, actually." Sinric chuckles, his fingers threading easily through Ragnar's hair, taming his hair into a braid.

Ragnar leans back and enjoys the feeling of Sinric's fingers.

"A lot of the most important parts, too," he adds.

"My lips? My hands?" Sinric teases, drawing the strands of Ragnar's hair back in the braid as it was before.

Ragnar chuckles.

"Your hips," his says. "Your breasts. The sweet little thing between your legs."

Sinric chuckles and kisses Ragnar's neck. "And my heart and mind?"

"Are as lovely, but mostly innocent of messing up my hair," Ragnar grins.

"My heart is never innocent when it comes to you." Sinric laughs.

Ragnar laughs as well, and leans back for a kiss.

Sinric makes the most of the playful kiss, enjoying the laughter and warm joy.

Ragnar snuggles. "Sleepy," he admits.

Sinric gives a soft purr and gives Ragnar a little hug. "Rest. I'll be right here." He has a book he wants to keep reading but he's happy to do that snuggled up with a sleeping Ragnar.

Ragnar slides down onto the bed, curls up in Sinric's lap, and does snuggle with a happy sigh.

Sinric pulls the blankets up around them as he takes up his book. He sings softly, stroking Ragnar's hair as he reads.
