Sinric tumbles through a door. Not his own nor Hannibal's but near and open. He pulls Hannibal with him, pushing the door closed without a backwards glance. The room is dark and richly furnished, finished in oxblood and gilt. All of which Sinric ignores as he pulls at Hannibal's clothes, eager for skin between passionate kisses.

Hannibal stands, and stretches. "No," he says. "But this kind of style."

"Does it have a name, this style?" He pads towards the bathroom, which is exactly as Hannibal described it. Dolphin taps and all. He rests his knee on the edge of the bath to run the water, his long lean back elegant in the bathroom's soft light.

Hannibal stands in the doorway, watching him. "Victorian," he says. "Or rather, historism."

"Historism. What an odd word." He glances over his shoulder, smiling to Hannibal. "What does it mean?"

"Historical elements used purely decoratively," Hannibal says. "Revivals of any kind. Lots of 'neo' styles thrown in together -- Neo-Gothic churches, Neo-Baroque office buildings, Neo-Renaissance factories."

"Ah. And this," He gestures around the room, "has elements of this Victorian age?"

"It looks like a somewhat Victorian bathroom, put together from known historical elements as if the architect had been a blind magpie; however, the result is soothing and traditional to the eye."

"I wonder if the bar choose it for us, or if it was just the first one empty." He turns off the tap and swirls the water. "Care to join me?"

"That was rather the point," Hannibal says. "Excuse the art history lesson."

He smiles and climbs in, with plenty of room enough for Hannibal to join him. "I rather enjoy the lessons. I may in my time, see more of the world than most, but there is so much outside my time I would enjoy very much to learn."

Hannibal joins him, stretching in the hot water. "There are infinite amounts of things you can learn about," Hannibal says. "Or that I can learn; there are huge areas I don't even know that I don't know about."

Sinric shifts to settle comfortably between Hannibal's thighs, his narrow back resting against Hannibal's chest. "Then we can find them and learn together." He smiles, reaching back to stroke Hannibal's hair.

"I'd enjoy that," Hannibal says, running a fingertip over Sinric's breasts. "I would like to know more about the indigenous cultures of South America, for example."

Sinric sighs warmly and arches into the touch. "I'd like that too. The Americas will be unknown in my time and yet so much wonder comes from there."

"In your time, all those cultures were still flourishing unimpeded," Hannibal muses.

"Languages never mixed with Rome or Tang. Songs never heard outside the their lands." The thought thrills him.

"Cultures entirely untainted by Christianity," Hannibal adds.

He raises his eyebrows, humming thoughtfully. "I'd never thought of that. I suppose it will be, one day."

"Oh yes, horribly so," Hannibal says. "The Spanish and the Portuguese arrive, flatten the cultures, kill much of the people, and force Christianity on the rest. But parts of the old culture survives into my time."

He shakes his head, horrified by the thought and snuggles back against Hannibal.

"Even as a child, I disliked the men of the church. I have always loved the music, the art, even the vaulting beauty of the churches themselves. But the cruelty perpetrated in the churches name." He shakes his head again.

"It changes its facade over the centuries, but mainly remains the same," Hannibal agrees.

"Corrupted to the greed and avarice of men." He whispers sadly.

He turns to straddle Hannibal's thighs, facing him. "Then perhaps we can find a way there ourselves, to see this virgin world."

"We can at least learn about them, and their languages, and see what difference that freedom makes," Hannibal says. "I am sure there are sources avaialble here that didn't survive into my time."

Sinric cups Hannibal's cheek and kisses him sweetly. "Then together we shall learn such things as we can about them."

"It is a good project for the coming winter," Hannnibal says, kissing him back.
