Sinric opens the door to his room, letting the wrap slip from his shoulder as he moves to fold it up. There's a little catch in his breathing and a happy sigh as he sets it down on his bed. "I go away for years and yet, I come back and nothing has changed. Even the scent."

"I'm just sorry," Ragnar says. "Perhaps we should talk as well, later."

Sinric sits on the edge of the bath, feet trailing half in and out, bridging the gap between them as Athelstan readies himself.

"If you think it would do any good."

It isn't Ragnar's will to help he's doubting, it's that anybody can.

"Talking to you?" Ragnar says. "Of course it will. In one way or another. Talking to you rarely is in vain."

Ragnar will give up when he's dead. And he is patient.

Sinric gives them a soft smile, silently offering to be there for them as they need it.

Athelstan's smile in return is strained and short-lived, but at least it's there.

He doesn't speak again before he turns for the door.

Ragnar sits in the bath, blinking his eyes a few times.

Sinric waits till the door closes behind Athelstan before moving back into the bath. He opens his arms and holds Ragnar close, kissing his hair and rubbing his back comfortingly.

"Our poor Athelstan," Ragnar murmurs softly, moving into Sinric's touch.

Sinric cradles Ragnar's head against his chest. "I worry for both of you. I know it must be very hard on you too."

Ragnar snuggles, gratefully.

"Not nearly as bad as for him."

Sinric kisses his temple, rubbing Ragnar's back. "Then we'll help him together. When he's ready for us."

"That is what I want most," Ragnar says, softly.

"I know." He soothes, stroking Ragnar's cheek. "And he knows it too."

"I hope it doesn't add pressure," Ragnar says.

This whole thing makes him feel as if the ground beneath his foot had become unreliable.

"He seems to understand that, although he no longer feels the fire, we both do. Perhaps it will help, to know that pressure can be relieved?"

Ragnar reaches out for Sinric, quietly.

Sinric nods and settles comfortably over Ragnar's lap, content to hold and be held. "There is no rush here, beloved." He tilts Ragnar's face up to look at him, "I have missed you."

Ragnar quietly dips his head to kiss the tips of Sinric's breasts

"And I have missed you," he admits. "And this."

Sinric's breath catches in a little gasp of desire. "As have I." He arches up, giving Ragnar better access to his pert little breasts. "It seems a long time since I've shared myself with someone I desired."

"So we have both quite an edge to take off," Ragnar says, hands roaming down Sinric's back.

"Just so." Sinric leans in, pressing kisses down the slop of Ragnar's neck as he lifts himself to press a little more snugly against Ragnar's manhood.

The skin of his back is rather more textured than it was. Some older scars have softened while new ones have taken their place. Especially on his right shoulder-blade where the marks are deep and deliberate. But Sinric doesn't mind to touch, too busy nuzzling the soft skin behind Ragnar's ear.
