Sinric waits quietly in the light of the doorway, his eyes down until he heard Athelstan's footfall on the stairs of the veranda. He rises to offer Athelstan his arm. "You should come in where it's warm."

"If you hurt me sharply", he promises. "This can't be done with no discomfort, but it's healing discomfort."

"Then if the ache is too much or the pressure too deep." Sinric instructions seriously, kissing Athelstan's hip as he continues.

It's some time before he's satisfied he can do no more to ease the ache in Athelstan's legs before moving upwards.

"I promise", he murmurs, letting himself drift as Sinric begins to work on his back.

The knots here are less to do with walking awkwardly, more to do with psychological stress.

Sinric shows them the same care, well aware of the effects such trauma can have on body and mind. He keeps singing, trying to keep Athelstan's mind away from the darkness that cause his body to so clench.

Under Sinric's skilled hands, and perhaps helped by the singing, Athelstan's muscles unwind and relax.

He isn't asleep, but in a sort of in between trance state.

The best place possible to relax. Sinric works tirelessly, stopping only to refresh the oil or sip the cool, clean water here to keep his voice from drying out. He works up into Athelstan's shoulders and down his arms, massaging to the very joints of his hands to ease the tightness there.

Athelstan turns his hands dreamily into the touch. His fingers are tight with disuse more than pain, where he's been used to working with his hands every day and now he hasn't in weeks.

"I must start writing again", he murmurs. "The moment I can."

"What will you write?" The asks softly, moving from one hand to the other.

"My book. Or finish my Bible, or - something. I don't know. I just want my hands to work."

"You must do whatever gives your hands strength and purpose." Sinric whispers, kissing the tip of Athelstan's fingers. "Perhaps when you return to us, I will teach you to write in the Persian style. It is beautiful and flowing, more art than the angled letters of Latin."

"I'd like that." He smiles a little. "It must be a lovely script."

"It flows like water and they write on almost everything. Even their building are adorned with the words of their poets and their scriptures." Awe lifts Sinric's voice. "And thier poetry is stirring and rich."

He recited a short piece he learned last time one of their poets was at court, the language flits from fast and guttural to flowing between word.

"A beautiful language, to go with the writing. I'll have you teach it to me, when we have more time."

"Something to look forward to." Sinric whispers, kissing Athelstan's shoulder and he shifts the furs to protect Athelstan's back and gently guides him to roll over.

He does so, gazing up into Sinric's eyes as he makes himself comfortable.

"The more to look forward to, the better."

"Us? This?" He asks softly, his hands working on the muscles of Athelstan's neck and chest.

"To be with you again, with no worry or pain..." He leans up, just a little without dislodging Sinric's hands, to kiss him.

Sinric meets him halfway, the kiss thick with love and longing. "We will, when the time is right and you are ready. Never fear for that."

"But I want..." He trails off, frustrated with himself. "I do still want you. I hoped to make love to you tonight, another good memory to take back and for you to hold while I'm gone."

He just isn't sure his body will cooperate.

Sinric hushes him with another kiss. "There are many ways to share pleasure. To touch, to taste, to feel. It is not always needed to enter or take."

"Then let's share what pleasure we can", he concedes. "I can still touch you with my hands and mouth."

Sinric slides down to lay next to Athelstan, drawing him into another soft kiss. "I am yours." Sinric promises, drawing Athelstan close.

His skin is warm and soft against Athelstan's, sighing sweetly as he moves to kiss Athelstan's neck.

"And I'm yours, don't forget. This night is to pleasure you as well, as you've done me such good."

His hands begin to roam, starting at Sinric's breasts.

Sinric whimpers with soft joy, his nipples hardening under Athelstan's touch.

He strokes Athelstan's side, caressing the curves of Athelstan's body.

"I know you like that best", Athelstan murmurs, dipping his head to taste Sinric's skin, his unshaven face scraping.
